Gifted is a wishlist and gift registry service operated by Gifted ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We wrote it in plain language on purpose.
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, your display name, and your password (stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form).
- Your gift profile: the preferences you choose to fill in, such as sizes, hobbies, favorite scents, colors, teams, and things to avoid. All of this is optional.
- Your lists and items: the lists you create and the product links, names, prices and images you save to them.
- Your circles: the people you connect with, the circle you place them in, and invitations you send.
- Optional details: a phone number and a profile photo, if you add them.
- Usage data: when you tap a Buy link we record that a click happened, along with the item, the list and the merchant network. We record how you first arrived (an invite, a shared list, an ad campaign, or direct) so we understand how Gifted grows.
What we do not collect
We never see or store your card number, bank details, or billing address. Payments for Gifted Pro are handled entirely by Stripe. We do not read your contacts; if you invite someone from your phone, the contact picker runs on your device and only the person you actually choose is sent to us.
Why we collect it
- To run the service: show your lists, connect your circles, and let people reserve gifts.
- To send transactional email, such as an invitation or a password reset.
- To bill and support Gifted Pro subscribers.
- To understand which parts of Gifted people use, and whether new members arrive organically or through advertising.
Who we share it with
We share data only with the services that make Gifted work:
- Supabase stores your account and your data.
- Vercel hosts the website and the app.
- Stripe processes Gifted Pro payments.
- Flodesk sends our email and hosts the Pro checkout.
- Amazon Associates and Sovrn Commerce operate the affiliate links described below.
- Microlink may be used to fetch a product photo when you paste a link.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own marketing.
What other people can see
You choose the audience for every list. A private list is visible only to you. A list shared with a circle is visible to the people in that circle. A list you share by link is visible to anyone holding that link, so treat share links as public.
When someone reserves a gift on your list, we deliberately hide it from you. That is the point of the feature.
Affiliate links
Gifted may earn a small commission when you buy through links in the app, at no extra cost to you. It is what keeps Gifted free. As an Amazon Associate and through other affiliate partners, we earn from qualifying purchases. When you tap a Buy link, the merchant and our affiliate partner may set cookies and receive the fact that the click came from Gifted.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in. That is the only thing our own cookies do. Our affiliate partners set their own cookies when you click through to a merchant.
Children
Gifted is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will remove it.
Your choices
- See or correct your data: most of it is editable directly in the app.
- Delete your account: email us and we will delete your account and your lists.
- Stop the email: every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Transactional email, like a password reset, is not something you can unsubscribe from while you have an account.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your data. Email us and we will honor them.
Security
Your session lives in a secure cookie, passwords are hashed, and access to your rows is enforced at the database level rather than only in the app. No service can promise perfect security, but we take it seriously and we fix things when we find them.
Changes
If we make a meaningful change to this policy we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you by email.
